Hilman Load Rollers/Skates: Go Beneath the Surface

A series of pipe cradles were created to accomplish this outfall pipe launch. The cradles, with two Hilman Rollers bolted to each, create a recyclable system for launching 91 metre long strings of large diameter pipe. The Rollers run on a specially built track of twin I-beams that run all the way into the channel. When the pipe is buoyant, the cradles are brought back to shore and can be used over again. The pipe was towed for 12 hours to where it is buried in the ocean floor.
