Durapac Hydraulic: DANGER (Overhead) High Voltage!
The Solution:
For this transformer change out four RG-258 Durapac 25 ton cylinders with stabilising bases, four-way manifold and electric pump were required to manoeuvre the transformer into position.
The transformer was loaded onto rated I-beams which were slowly driven into the yard with a remote-controlled caterpillar track machine.
30-ton load skates were used to manoeuvre the transformer into position.
Then the four Durapac RG-258 cylinders and four VCV-66 four-way manifolds were used to carefully lower the transformer onto the final resting position on the concrete pad.
The Result:
This method was much more economical than hiring expensive overhead cranes, considering the high overhead lines in the substation.
